The 6 best 3D photo apps for Android

Google is testing a new feature It automatically detects photos in Google Photos and gives them a 3D touch with just one touch. Although you can enable / disable it from advanced settings in Google Photos app, it has not been implemented yet. So instead of waiting, let’s invest our time and creativity using other third-party apps that already allow you to do that. Although the market for this genre of apps is still developing, there are some apps that I tried that are worth trying. Without wasting any more time, here are the best 3D photo apps for Android.

3D photo apps for Android

1. LucidPix 3D Photo Creator

Probably one of the most used 3D imaging apps on the Play Store right now. LucidPix not only allows you to use your phone’s camera to take 3D photos, but you can also easily transform existing images in your gallery. There are other useful photo editing features such as multiple filters, the option to add text, modify colors, etc.

The app does a great job of giving your images a 3D flair, but I still found cases where the images were transformed into a stretched version of the original image.

The app adds a watermark that you can remove by subscribing to the superuser version for less than $ 1.

Note: This application uploads the images to its servers for processing.

2. Fyuse 3D Photos

Unlike the previous app which gave you a bit of a popping and tilting effect on the images, this one gives you more room to move and thus a better 3D image. This not only improves the depth of the photo, but captures the space that allows you to move the image by sliding your finger on the screen to view it from different angles.

Fyuse is not just a photo app, it has a built-in social media platform. This allows you to add a description of the photo and create a timeline of the photo where others can like and comment.

What I personally like about this app is that it is free and you have tons of help and tutorials to get you started with any type of photo you want to take. Be it a selfie, pets, real estate, or any other genre. The uber 3D photo app for Android requires you to sign in with your Google ID, Facebook, or email. So if you were planning to use this as a guest, you will surely be disappointed.

3. 3D effect

3D effect doesn’t create conventional 3D photos like other 3D photo apps we saw earlier. However, if you have ever watched a 3D movie or read a book with 3D pictures, I am sure you are familiar with 3D glasses. Similar to those movies / books that need lenses with a different color tint, this application allows you to transform normal images or capture images with that effect.

Remember, you will only be able to make full use of this application if you have 3D glasses

It also has a built-in editor. With this, you can adjust the direction of the 3D effect, select the color mix, etc. The application applies a watermark that you can remove by paying $ 2.

4. Facebook

Not to be outdone, Facebook also introduced a 3D image capture feature in the Facebook app. Similar to LucidPix, you have the option to take a photo and also create a 3D effect on the images in your gallery. You can do this by going to your news feed. If you are an administrator or editor of a Facebook page, you can also try this feature.

Start, select ‘What do you have in mind? at the top of your news feed and click photo / video at the bottom of the content options.

That will open the gallery window. You also can select a photo from your gallery and press next Or you can also click the camera icon in the upper right corner to capture a new image.

After that, it will load automatically and show up in the next window. You will find a Make 3D icon at the top of the photo, just touch that.

The photo will take a few seconds to process depending on your connection. When you’re done, move your phone to view the photo in 3D and hit the Post button to post it to your feed. You can also remove the 3D effect by selecting remove 3D before publishing the image. No need to download a separate 3D photo app on your Android.

5. Zoetropic – Photo in motion

While many 3D photo apps for Android deal with transforming an image into moving 3D images, Zoetropic puts your images in motion. Confused? Think of it as a mix of 3D and still images in motion.

For example, take a still image of a waterfall. With this app, you can set motion points that essentially give the appearance that the water is actually flowing. Also, if you don’t want other parts of the image to move, there is also an option to stabilize the rest of the area.

You can add more flavor by using the soundtracks in the audio library or by adding fancy overlays. You should keep in mind that the final version with all the motion effect will be a video file.

6. GRUBL

This wallpaper app allows you to replace your boring 2D or even live wallpapers with 3D. Use your phone’s gyroscope to detect motion and move the wallpaper accordingly. Unlike other wallpaper apps I tried, which are packed with low-quality content, you’ll find animated, genre-specific, made for AMOLED screens, and much more in the database.

You have the option to automatically change the wallpapers, add parallax effect, toggle the wallpaper in power saving mode, etc.

The application has a cost of $ 1.75 / month. This plan unlocks all live wallpapers and removes ads. If you just want to give it a try, there are plenty of good wallpapers that you can check out for free.

Closing remarks: the best 3D photo apps for Android

So here are some apps that allow you to create a 3D photo from any image or make use of your phone’s camera to capture it and convert it into 3D images. If your end goal is to share it with your friends, there is nothing better than using Facebook’s native 3D image option. If not, you can try LucidPics for still images or Zoetropic to add movement to a certain part of any image.
