Sleepless nights? We’ve all been there and no matter how many times you change positions or have a glass of water, you can’t just shut up those onlookers. I can say from personal experience browsing Reddit at 1AM doesn’t help either. While playing some games can give you a burst of energy, there are others that are quiet and make you feel relaxed with their relaxing background score or minimal gameplay.
It is widely assumed that playing video games before bed makes you alert and does not help you sleep. Studies show a smooth connection between video games and sleep and does not affect the quality of sleep. Video games that are more casual and have soft background music can help you sleep, as can apps. Here is a list of the best games to help you sleep.
Games to help you fall asleep
1. sleep with me
The first on our list is not exactly a game, but a podcast. Unlike most podcasts, Sleep With Me, they consist of boring bedtime tents, told in a monotonous, no-flow way. The point of the story is not to be interesting enough and to help the mind wander to sleep. Each episode is 20-45 minutes long and is available on all popular podcast apps such as Google Podcast, Apple Podcast, Spotify, etc. In general, Sleeping with me has changed the way, I have fallen asleep and I recommend that you try it first.
2. Sheep sleep
They told me to count sheep when I couldn’t sleep as a child and I went to sleep out of sheer boredom from the activity. Some people prefer the old-fashioned method of counting sheep on their heads, others, well, they can play this game. The dream of the sheep makes telling the dream at least bearable with its decent game. You play as a sleeping child who has to count the sheep to keep sleeping. When you play, it shows you a certain number of sheep that pass through the room and you have to guess the exact number or the child will wake up. This was too attractive and instead of sleeping I became too competitive. The sleeping mode is more relaxed and you just have to count the sheep until you fall asleep. Sheep Dream is free on Play Store.

Antistress is the perfect game for people who feel restless and cannot sleep. Antistress has a collection of items and you can play with them to release some stress. The graphics are decent and the sound is average, but the haptic response of the things you move in the game is fine. You can play with wooden blocks, light switches, chalk, Newton’s cradle, Fidget Spinner, darts, and a pendulum. These are some of the few items that are free. You also have a silent pack that is locked behind a paywall and you can buy it all for $ 0.99. The game is free.
Orbia is a minimalist game with high-end and colorful graphics. You play as a cute hairball and your goal is to jump as far as you can without dying. Its one-touch gameplay lets you play with one hand, and the background soundtrack feels calm. Orbia has hundreds of levels and characters that you can unlock on the go.
5. Tiles Hop
Although this game was not developed to help you sleep, it works if you play a relaxing song. This app syncs with music and lets you play to the beat of the music and neon graphics add to the immersive experience. You control a ball with a slider and it automatically jumps on the tiles. Your only objective is to land the ball on the tile or the game is over. I loved playing this game with EDM tracks, but it also works surprisingly well with idyllic music.
This next game may not be the one with the best graphics, but it certainly has some great music. SpinTree is a low poly game in which you have to grow a tree by touching the energy stars. Your tree has a circular ball that continues to spin around it and you must capture the star by tapping the screen as they get closer. This simple game combined with forest sounds and guitar notes makes for a peaceful experience. You can turn off the sound if it is too much for you or if you have someone sleeping next to you.
This last application, Stack, has a very simple gameplay, you have to stack blocks to create the tallest tower. It’s on the list because it’s simple, has a relaxing background score, and the graphics are minimal. The blocks must match the block below or the excess part will break off and make the game more difficult. I play Stack every now and then when I can’t sleep and it works quite well.
Harmony is a puzzle game where you create symmetrical patterns and harmonic notes. The goal is to solve a puzzle in which you have to form a mirror image of a pattern. The touches produce a musical note that fits well with the title. The game has over 1000 levels and will keep you busy when you can’t sleep.
9. Is it okay?
Well, this is the most interesting game on this list. Your goal is Beat the levels where you have to make the ball touch all the white elements.. There are black obstacles in the game, but it’s okay if you touch them. Each element has its unique musical note and when you point the ball correctly, it plays a melody when it hits the tiles. The levels are designed by the users and you can create your own level. There are 150 levels and the new levels keep increasing. The game is free and you can donate to the developer, it can range from $ 0 to anything and it’s fine if you don’t want to donate.
VOI is another puzzle game on the list that combines calm music with minimal gameplay. Your goal is to create the pattern shown in the circle above with pieces below. The levels start out so easy at first and then quickly get more complicated. The only thing you have to remember is that Black + Black = White to solve the puzzles. Personally, I find this game very relaxing with the right amount of music and difficulty.
11. Meditation game
Here’s one that reminds you to relax while playing this game. The meditation game has one goal: you just have to move your phone to collect energy points. The app reminds you to take a deep breath and observe your breathing. The serene background score helps you release stress as you follow the on-screen instructions as you play. There are no in-game ads to disturb your session and you can dive into the ocean like a quiet game.
12. The celestial tree
Next, we have an idle clicker with minimal graphics and white silhouettes for interactive elements. Your goal is to keep clicking the screen and gain energy and as you gain energy you can unlock missions, levels, and even background music. You can select from a variety of different background music according to your preferences. If you want a game where you can interact and listen to calm music, The Celestial Tree is the preferred option.
Next, we have Dream Walker, where you guide Anna, a sleepwalking girl, who embarks on an adventure in her dreams. The background music is great and as you progress through the game it gets faster and harder. It’s an endless running gamee where you only control the time of Anna’s turns, which makes the game easier. I played Dream Walker lying on the side, which made me fall asleep pretty quickly. Dream Walker is fun to play with great music.

The best games to help you sleep?
These were my picks for the best games to help you sleep. I play Core because it has a black and white interface that fits in very well with the dark environment in which I play it. Celestial Tree is for when I feel restless and want to release some stress. Artbook Story is the most beautiful game because it allows you to capture the screenshots after you have finished your puzzle. Tell us what games you play before bed in the comments below.
