Instagram’s story feature is a great way to keep your audience engaged. You can easily upload multiple images or videos from your gallery. However, if you are someone who likes collages or old school photo booth images, you will like what we have to share. Now you can add multiple photos to an Instagram story in different ways. Let’s start.
Add multiple photos to an Instagram story
We will share apps for Android and iOS platform and mark them clearly in the header. Have fun.
1. Instagram photo sticker (iOS and Android)
In a recent update, Instagram introduced the photo tag option. It allows you to add multiple photos from your gallery as stickers to an Instagram story. Let’s see how to use this sticker and add multiple photos to a story.
one. Open Instagram and create a story. In this case, I have created a solid color background using the To create option. Once you do that, tap the tag icon on top.
two. From the sticker menu, scroll down and tap on the photo stickers option (+ sign with two cards). This will open the phone gallery in the same window. Then tap an image of your choice to open it at the bottom of the story. By repeating the same process, you can easily add multiple photos to a story. You also have the option to resize and move these images anywhere on the story canvas.
Please note that your photos will be displayed in their original orientation, be it a portrait or landscape photo. Currently, there is no limit to the number of photos you can upload. I tried uploading more than ten images to a story and was able to do it without any problem. If you still don’t have the Instagram photo tag update, try the steps listed below.
2. Trick to copy / paste the photo application (iOS)
This is one of the many reasons why iOS is better than Android. Photos app copy / paste trick allows you to add multiple images to Instagram story directly from gallery. All you have to do is add an image to the story. Then go to the Photos app and touch an image to select it. Now copy the image and open Instagram again. Touch the text field (Aa) in the upper right corner and paste the image. That’s it, you can simply pinch and zoom or move the images and get creative.
3. Instagram design
This is Instagram’s official way of adding multiple photos to a single story. Unlike the previous method, you need to add photos to a single collage. So, consider this an easy to use collage app. You can add multiple photos, drag photos to reposition, and also use the quick resize option.
If you’re someone who doesn’t want to move or resize images freely on the story canvas, give Layout a try.
You also have a ‘Faces’ section in the app that separates all images with a human face. This is useful when sharing memories with friends. Besides that, you can mirror / flip an image and also add borders easily.
4. SwiftKey (third-party keyboard)
If you already use a third-party keyboard, you can try this method right away. If you don’t have one, you can install SwiftKey which I have used for this method. Here is a step-by-step guide that you can follow.
one. Download and open SwiftKey. Tap on the Enable SwiftKey and select Microsoft SwiftKey keyboard. Similarly, tap on Select Swiftkey and choose to change the default keyboard.
If you want to use it as your default keyboard, sign in with your Microsoft or Google account. You can also use it without logging in.
two. Open Instagram and add an image to a story. Now pinch to resize the image. Tap the text icon in the upper right corner to open SwiftKey.
3. Select the sticker icon and tap the pin button at the bottom. Now tap on the camera sign and allow storage permission. This will allow access to your phone’s gallery.
Four. Select the photo you want to use and you’re done. Now you can easily pinch and zoom, drag images, and collage.
5. Use a photo editor
You can also easily add multiple images to a single image using a photo editor. In this way, you avoid the inherent limitations of Layout. I do most of my editing on Snapseed, but you can choose other photo editing apps for iOS and Android.
6. Photo booth camera mode
Photobooth is a native feature that allows you to add four images to a story. You can toggle this mode from the camera while uploading a story. When you press record, it takes 4 photos at once. Besides that, you also get various filter options like VHS, filmstrip, vintage, etc.
Conclusion: add multiple photos to an Instagram story
I mainly use the Layout application. First of all, it’s from Instagram that makes preset aspect ratios much easier. Second, it is easy to use as it allows you to edit photos by dragging to move and resize them. I also recommend the third-party keyboard method for Android, as there is no native way around it.
