How to rename your AirPods on Windows PC
It’s a rare combination, but many people still stick to the Windows PC for official work, mostly if you’re on documentation work, while you’re in the Apple ecosystem otherwise. So here is the trick to renaming your AirPods on Windows PC. I’m using the term ‘hack’ because it doesn’t even involve the Bluetooth menu.
Open Control Panel from the Start menu and search for Hardware and Sound.
Click Devices and Printers to see all external devices connected to your PC. The icons in this section may not accurately represent your device, but only indicate what type of device it is. Windows icons are still a bit archaic.
Find your AirPods and right click on the icon. It should be an icon similar to a headset, but it may differ from system to system. Click Properties on the context menu to enter your AirPods settings window.
Once you are in the properties menu, click on the Bluetooth tab. You’ll see the name of your AirPod right at the top of the window. Just edit the name and save your changes. A little troubleshooting for those who don’t see the renaming effect, just disconnect and reconnect your AirPods from the Bluetooth menu and your changes will appear.
